St Louis has proven time and again that it is a world-class catfishery. The area holds two previous world records (124 lbs and 130 lbs). The Mississippi River is abundant with trophy class blue catfish. Capt. Ryan typically averages 54 cats over 50lbs a year and has had 5 fish in the 90s and 3 fish over 100 lbs.
That is a great question, the short answer is ANY TIME! The long answer is that it just depends on you. We can catch fish all year long. The only month we try to shy away from is June because the catfish are spawning at this time. Spring is an excellent trophy fish time. The catfish are coming out of their wintering holes and are hungry! Summer is the best time for numbers.
Show Me Catfishing is licensed by the United States Coast Guard and insured for your protection. We use top notch equipment and abide by all conservation and safety regulations. Whether you are a beginner wanting to learn how to fish the river, an experienced fisherman looking for the fish of a lifetime or learn new techniques - Show Me Catfishing guides can get the job done.
We release all catfish over 10lbs no exceptions. These big fish are our breeding stock and deserve to swim away. We don't clean fish as there are no cleaning stations in our area. If you would like to keep some fish to eat bring a large cooler to take your catch home in.
We love to take kids out and put them on a fish of a lifetime. Kids 7 years and up are welcome on the boat. The Mississippi and Missouri Rivers can be dangerous for anyone let alone small children. If you plan on bringing a smaller child on the trip it is always best to have their own life jacket that fits them well as they will have to wear it all day. We provide all safety equipment and have lifejackets on hand that will fit but may not be as comfortable as their own. It's also always important to remember sun screen and appropriate apperel for weather.
